TV actor’s husband held for murder, robbery

A 36-year-old criminal, husband of a small-time model and TV actor, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in several cases of robbery and murder.

A 36-year-old criminal, husband of a small-time model and TV actor, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in several cases of robbery and murder.

The criminal was arrested on Tuesday by a team of the anti-auto theft squad of east district. A cash reward of Rs. 50,000 had been declared for any information leading to his arrest. The accused has been identified as Akil Malik, a resident of Zafarabad in northeast Delhi.

Prabhakar, deputy commissioner of police (east), said Malik alias Mama was evading arrest in four cases of robbery and murder registered at different police stations in Delhi. Malik studied up to Class 3 and left his studies midway before starting work as a tailor.

"In 1997, Malik came in contact with local criminals. He was evading arrest for more than one year. After every crime, Malik used to flee to Mumbai where he lived with his wife and children. He would return to Delhi only after he was convinced that the police were not behind him," said Prabhakar.

Malik's wife Firdaus Saifi is a model and plays small roles in TV serials. His mother-in-law Razia Saifi has criminal cases against her.
