Two held for child trafficking

The Saket police on Saturday arrested a man and his wife, who allegedly brought minor girls from Jharkhand and employed them as domestic helps. HT reports.

The Saket police on Saturday arrested a man and his wife, who allegedly brought minor girls from Jharkhand and employed them as domestic helps.

The police rescued an 11-year-old girl from one of the houses in South Delhi. According to the police, the couple have put at least four minors in various households. The police said the couple, Manoj Kumar and his wife Lalita, who hail from Jharkhand, used to bring children to Delhi on the pretext of providing them better life.

The two even ran a placement agency, Citizen Service Placement Agency, from Lado Sarai in south Delhi and used to put up advertisements in newspapers about these girls.

The police said that Kumar used to visit remote places in Jharkhand to look for underaged girls.
