Two henchmen of a Delhi-based gangster were arrested and four illegally-procured country-made weapons were recovered from their possession in northwest Delhi, police said on Monday.

Identified as Ajeet Singh and Sushil, the duo had apparently procured the weapons from their contacts in adjacent Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut to avenge a recent attack by a rival gang, said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (northwest).
“A dispute for the possession of a piece of land located in Burari has been under way between the two criminal groups. The arrested duo also belongs to one of these groups,” said DCP Karunakaran.
On February 11, police said, one of the associates of the arrested men’s group had been attacked by members of the rival camp. To avenge the assault, at the behest of their leader, Ajeet and Sushil procured two pistols with 25 rounds of 7.65 bore, a revolver with five cartridges of .32 bore and one ‘katta’ of .315 bore.
“On March 3, acting on a secret information, the men were arrested and weapons were recovered from them. Further investigation of the case is focused on the supplier of illegal arms,” DCP Karunakaran added.
