The faculty of social sciences at Delhi University on Saturday approved two more courses under the new four-year baccalaureate degree programme.

With the approval of the two courses -- social work and African studies -- a major chunk of all courses has been passed under the new programme that has to come into force from the coming session in July.
Fifteen teachers from the economics department, meanwhile, wrote to the head of the social science faculty, saying that the committee that formulated the economics course is wrongly constituted as the rules of seniority were not followed in composition.
"We request you to withdraw the entire exercise of passing these courses and first constitute the CoCs according to the rules of the University and further seek open democratic mandate according to long held conventions and then bring up these to the legally constituted CoCs," the letter read.
The staff council of Miranda House also passed a resolution on Friday asking the university to provide clear guidelines on issues of student strength, options, tutorials and re-appropriation of seats.
"In the absence of statutory sanction on workload guidelines, we are unable to submit hypothetical workloads," a statement by the association said.
