Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday underwent what doctors said was "a regular check-up" at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. His condition was reported to be normal, though doctors are keeping him in hospital for another day for more tests.

"All the preliminary findings of his tests show that he is in a fit condition," Randeep Guleria, his personal physician and head of medicine at AIIMS said.
Vajpayee, 84, was admitted on Friday evening, almost three weeks after he was discharged from the hospital. Doctors said he was admitted for a "regular check-up".
"We have conducted some medical tests, including X-ray and blood tests, on him. All these tests are quite normal. There are some more tests that we are planning to conduct on Sunday," Guleria said.
AIIMS medical superintendent D K Sharma said Vajpayee will be discharged on Sunday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was admitted to AIIMS on February 3 following chest infection. He was on ventilator after his condition deteriorated but his health subsequently improved. He was discharged March 1.
