Former Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday visited AIIMS for a "regular check-up", months after he was diagnosed with severe respiratory tract infection.

"He came in at 11 AM for a routine check-up. Dr Randeep Guleria is looking after him and the former Prime Minister is expected to stay at the hospital for a few hours," AIIMS Medical Superintendent D K Sharma told PTI.

The 84-year-old leader, who has now retired from active politics, had spent 26 days in the ICU earlier this year after he was admitted to AIIMS on March 2 with high fever.
