In an effort to hoodwink his employers into believing that he was on time for work, this 22-year-old waiter made a bomb hoax call.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested the man, working at Hotel Ashok, for allegedly making the hoax call.

'The accused, Sukuman Tamang, working at China Garden Restaurant at Hotel Ashoka, allegedly made the hoax call last Sunday about a bomb being planted there, which led to a massive search operation,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Shibesh Singh.

However, following investigations, Tamang was arrested from the hotel on Thursday. Tamang, who resides in south Delhi’s Munirka, allegedly made the call to hoodwink his seniors as he was getting late for work.

'He made the hoax call thinking it will keep his bosses busy and they will not notice that he was late for work,' added Singh. Following the call, the police deployed bomb disposal and dog squads; after a thorough search, found the call to be hoax.
