Just two weeks after price of essential vegetables such as potatoes and onions went up by more than 60%, the Delhi government reviewed the situation on Thursday.

In a meeting chaired by chief minister Sheila Dikshit, the government decided to closely monitor the prices, while attempting to check against hoarding. Dikshit instructed the food and supplies department to especially regulate onion prices at the earliest.
The Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) stated that prices were likely to ease once the quantum of supply improved from states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
“Supply is lower because of fog and poor weather as vehicles don’t come frequently,” said a retailer at a Safal Outlet. This condition, APMC said, is likely to stabilise in a fortnight.
