Stating that a minor scuffle between a worker and supervisor had triggered the violence, Chaudhery said it was not a labour issue and that the management had not expected it to turn into such an ugly situation.
Replying to a question on the possible impact of this incident on industrial investment in the state, Chaudhery said that complete harmony prevailed in the state and that the government would ensure that good relations prevailed between the management and labour unions of the state's industrial units.
Thursday afternoon saw Haryana's Director General of Police Ranjeev Singh Dalal visited the automobile giant's Manesar plant along with other top police officials. He would be camping in Gurgaon till the workers' unrest was resolved.
Dalal said the Gurgaon Police had taken over the entire plant and police parties are out to arrest the main accused. The police have already arrested 99 workers who had been violent at the Manesar Maruti Plant on Wednesday evening. An FIR has already been registered under Section 302 against some unidentified people and 55 identified people.
The DGP went around the plant premises and took briefs about the incident and the rescue operation taken up afterwards from the local police officers as well as district administration.
