The rain gauges measured 6.3 mm of showers during the day till 5:30 pm. The capital received 20.8 mm of showers for a period of 24 hours ending 8:30 am.

The weather office said the capital has received 676.6 mm of rains since July five when monsoon reached the capital.

The showers created trouble for families who were out to meet their relatives on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.

The rains once again brought with it traffic snarls, water-logging and vehicle breakdowns. Vehicular movement was slow on Ring Road, Munirka, Laxmi Nagar, Ashram, Mehrauli and Mathura Road.

Traffic was also moving slowly on NH 8, which connects Delhi and Gurgaon and DND flyover, which connects the capital and Noida.

As the skies opened up, vehicular movement also became slow in areas like ITO, Vikas Marg, Connaught Place and AIIMS.

Vehicular movement was affected due to waterlogging on Qutub Metro Station towards Gurgoan, IP flyover towards Rajghat, Mori Gate, Gupta Market, Lajpat Nagar, Hari Nagar, Ashram and Badarpur-Pahladpur under railway bridge.

Traffic movement was slow at Laxmi Nagar towards Shakarpur Chungi, Nehru Place flyover, Bhajanpura, Brijpuri and Gokulpuri.

Portions of two roads in Mori Gate and Tagore Garden caved in which also contributed to the slowing of traffic in the areas.

The MCD central control room received 51 complaints of waterlogging, 14 complaints of falling of trees or tree parts and one complaint of falling of building portions from areas in the civic body's jurisdiction.

The maximum and minimum were recorded at 25.6 and 23.7 degree Celsius respectively while the humidity was between 77 and 94 per cent.

The Met office said the next 24 hours are likely to see a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers, one or two of which may be heavy.
