The Delhi high court has directed the city police to conduct an inquiry against two of its personnel on a 72-year-old widow’s allegation that the cops had forcibly taken away R15,000 and an office key from her possession in January this year.

Justice Mukta Gupta, in a recent order, directed the DCP vigilance, police headquarter, to conduct an inquiry and sought a report by October 19 on the allegation levelled by a Harmohinder Bhatia against head constable Samunder Singh and sub-inspector Sanjay Kumar Singh, both posted at Naraina police station in south-west Delhi.
The court also issued a notice to the station house officer and sought an affidavit in response to Bhatia’s plea for registration of an extortion case against them.
Bhatia claimed the policemen entered her office, which her husband had started at a rented space in Naraina Industrial Area, on the insistence of the owner of premises.
