Woman alleges cop raped her but refuses medical test

A 35-year-old woman, native of Haridwar, who had been mugged before allegedly being raped by a Delhi Police constable, was sent back home after she refused to get a medical examination conducted.

A 35-year-old woman, native of Haridwar, who had been mugged before allegedly being raped by a Delhi Police constable, was sent back home after she refused to get a medical examination conducted.

The victim, who suffered from diabetes, had reached the Capital on Monday afternoon to meet some relatives. But she was mugged soon after de-boarding an interstate bus.

"As she was feeling weak because of the low sugar level in her body, she sat outside the gurdwara in New Friend's Colony. She was helped to a police station and a case of theft, regarding the bag that had been snatched from her, has been registered," said a senior police officer.

Initially, the victim had alleged that she had been raped by a constable who had promised to help her lodge a complaint at the local police station.

"However, when we requested her to get a medical examination conducted to help corroborate her allegation, she refused. We then registered a case of theft and helped her take a bus back to Haridwar," the officer said.
