A 64-year-old housewife was murdered, before being robbed at her first floor residence in west Delhi’s Hari Nagar area on Friday afternoon, police said.

V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said Pavittar Kaur, a resident of Meenakshi Gardens’ WZ block, was home alone at the time of the incident, which police suspect has been perpetrated by someone known to her.
The crime was reported when her grandchildren came home around 3pm.
Though there had been no ransacking, a chest of drawers in the drawing room — which contained R50,000 in cash — was found empty. Two gold bangles were taken from the victim’s person.
“A half-full glass of water and no sign of forced entry have led us to conclude that the perpetrator(s) were known to her. We have registered a case of murder-cum-robbery and investigation is underway,” Renganathan added.
