Woman held for killing her mother-in-law

A 24-year-old woman and her two accomplices, including her school time boyfriend, were arrested by the southwest district police for allegedly killing her mother-in-law and critically injuring her father-in-law.

Poonam was arrested along with her paramour Sushil Kumar and their partner in crime Deepak Kumar on Thursday following investigation into the murder case of Poonam's mother-in-law.

Ravi Shankar, additional DCP (southeast), said Poonam and Sushil had decided to kill her mother-in-law as she had caught them red-handed
and had threatened that she would tell her son (Poonam's husband) about their illicit relationship.

"Poonam revealed that her marriage was solemnised four years ago against her will and that she had a boyfriend whom she was in touch with. He used to visit her when her in-laws were away," said Shankar.

The victim was attacked by three persons with hockey sticks and knife at her home in the presence of her husband on the intervening night of August 12 and 13. The trio managed to rob her of her gold jewellery and money.
