A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire in Rajouri Garden area of West Delhi on Thursday evening. The parents of the woman alleged dowry harassment.
Police said Manorma succumbed to her burn injuries during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital on Friday morning. The victim had been rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital with 98 per cent burn injuries.
The woman’s husband said that on Thursday noon he had an argument with his wife over a simple matter. In the evening, she poured kerosene on her body and then set herself on fire.
Her parents have levelled allegations of dowry harassment, on basis of which an SDM enquiry has been ordered into the incident. Police said that Manorma had married Anil about six years back and the couple have two children.
