Even as BJP leaders insist that the decision regarding the party’s prime ministerial candidate would be taken at an appropriate time, party leader Yashwant Sinha obliquely threw his hat in the ring on Sunday.

When asked in an interview on NDTV whether he considered himself a potential candidate for the top post from the party, Sinha said with a smile: “Why not?”
Sinha had recently broken with the party line by demanding party chief Nitin Gadkari’s resignation over charges of business irregularities.
His statement about the top post came on a day when senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the party would take a decision regarding its PM-candidate at an appropriate time.
He praised Narendra Modi’s track record on governance, but stopped short of naming him the frontrunner for the post.
“He’s (Modi) a major leader in the BJP. But there’s a process through which the party takes a decision. ”
