Youth turns robber to gift girlfriend a gold chain

Dheeraj Bhamari, son of a small-time businessman, was caught with his friend Rohit (21) near Partap Nagar Metro Station yesterday while they were trying to flee after a robbing a passerby.
The victim, Tahir Hussain, was returning home from Bara Hindu Rao Hospital when the duo accosted him. They allegedly assaulted Hussain and took away Rs 800.
“Hussain shouted for help and Sub Inspector Sahib Singh and Constable Om Parkash rushed for help. Both Bhamari and Rohit were chased and apprehended," DCP (North) SS Yadav said.
Bhamari told the police he wanted to gift a gold chain to his girlfriend on her birthday.
“He was running short of money and to arrange money for the gold chain, he planned to commit robbery with Rohit," Yadav said. Four mobile phones and a motorcycle have been recovered.
