In an effort to stop youngsters from entering the crime world, Delhi Police have launched various schemes to engage them in sports activities. The scheme 'Yuva' also helps them get jobs.

The central district police have urged jeans factories and hotel associations to provide jobs to unemployed youths living in nearby areas.

"They are the ones who commit petty crimes. We counsel them and since there are many job opportunities in central Delhi, we thought of talking to those who can offer jobs to them,"a senior police officer said.

The southwest district police have launched a ‘yuva club’ where young boys and girls get the opportunity to indulge in sports activities.

"We are involving street children and young adults in sports activities, vocational studies, painting workshops. The idea is to wean away young adults and underprivileged children from taking to crime," the officer added.

In southeast Delhi, police have started programmes to train youths for competitive exams.
