Actor Aamir Khan, who had earned the wrath of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for expressing support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan three year ago, has put the past behind, ostensibly with an eye on the safe release of his next film. During a recent visit to Gujarat, he spoke of the "good work" being done there by Modi.

On a visit to a Palampur school for the promotion of 3 Idiots, Aamir said,“There is some good work happening in the field of education for the girl child in Gujarat. Special emphasis is given on this fact and it is a very good sign.”

In 2006, Aamir had criticised the displacement of farmers for the construction of a dam on Narmada, saying, “For a few hours he (Modi) went on fast, when he breaks his fast and puts food in his mouth he should remember that the food has been grown by farmers. If that truth is difficult to swallow, if it’s reason for them to come on so strong and powerful, then so be it.”

His subsequent films like Fanaa and Taare Zameen Par faced an unofficial ban in the state.
