Amy Winehouse was secretly engaged to boyfriend Reg Traviss weeks before her death, it has emerged. Film director Traviss, 35, gave the ‘Back to Black’ singer, 27, a diamond ring during an emotional heart-to-heart about their future and she accepted the proposal.
Winehouse agreed to marry him because she so desperately wanted to put her wild lifestyle behind her.
“Reg asked Amy and of course she said ‘Yes’. She loved him,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.
“She wanted nothing more than to be his wife and to start a family with him. She wanted to get rid of her demons so badly. They openly said they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They both thought the absolute world of each other,” the source added.
The couple, who had been together for two years, had planned to marry next year.
