‘Anil was and will be my Mr India’

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor, who is co-producing Mr India-2 assures, “Anil and Sridevi will surely be there in this new film.”

Fans of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi looking forward to the two stars reprise their roles from the 80s blockbuster Mr India in an upcoming sequel to the film, can be happy.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor, who is co-producing Mr India-2 assures, “Anil and Sridevi will surely be there in this new film.” He, however adds, “Since I’m not directing this one, the director can wish to change the characters as per his wish. I am in process of writing Mr India-2 and Anil Kapoor was and will be my Mr India.”

From the invisible to the suitable. Kapoor is also in the process of penning an animated flick, A Suitable Cockroach, about an NRI cockroach looking for a bride in India. AR Rehman is composing the music for this one.

Then there’s Paani, his much-talked about film on a subject very close to his heart. “The film looks at social disparities through the prism of water — how the urban rich squander away gallons in swimming pools, while the rural poor trudge for miles for a bucket of water,” he explains.

In fact, water seems to be taking up most of Kapoor’s time. “I’m also making a film on water for the National Geographic and I hope it would get screened,” he gives out. There’s another documentary on water for the Greenpeace. “I don’t think Greenpeace has and will put this short film on television, but I will definitely push for its screening so that it reaches maximum people,” he says.
