Actor Arjun Rampal, after the success of his Delhi nightspot LAP, has decided to open a club-lounge in Mumbai. The National Award winner is looking for an open, terrace-like space for his new haunt.
“I definitely don’t want to repeat LAP in Mumbai. Delhi has a different nightlife scene altogether. Out of experience I can say that the party circuit there prefers open and large spaces with gardens, the way LAP is. But that’s not essentially the scene in Mumbai,” says Arjun, who has spent over a year hunting for the perfect location in the city.
In Mumbai, he feels the focus is on music, drinks, private corners and something that’s spacious and gives breathing space and has cool decor. “Gardens at a party spot are not the in-thing here. I’ve been looking for a decent space, ideally atop a high-rise, that gives a beautiful view of the city at night. It will be a space that everyone considers his or her own,” he adds. As of now, the actor is riding high after the applause he’s received from socialites, Bollywood colleagues and international guests for organising the F1 after-parties and several other entertainment programmes.
However, the ticket prices (Rs. 40000 a ticket) restricted the common, upper-middle class crowd’s entry. This left several cribbing. “If I had it my way, I would have priced the tickets much lower. They would have been more affordable. But I had a space restriction and too many people wanted to be there because the parties promised great music, superb artistes and huge star presence. So my hands were tied as far as ticket prices were concerned,” explains Arjun, adding that this was the reason he tied up with UTV Stars in a bid to telecast the parties so that no one felt left out.

Now that the parties are over, the actor will start shooting his second TV show, Love To Hate You, a weekly show on Star World. “I’ve had no time to even look at the box-office results of RA.One,” says Arjun. “After a couple of days of shooting, I’ll need a break.”
