Opening up about his break-up with rocker Sheryl Crow, famous cyclist Lance Armstrong has blamed Crow's desire for kids as a key factor in their split.

Opening up about his break-up with rocker Sheryl Crow, famous cyclist Lance Armstrong has blamed Crow's desire for kids as a key factor in their split.

Lance said that after he and the singer engaged in 2005 their relationship became "kind of a struggle," The New York Post reported.

"She wanted marriage, she wanted children, and not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids (Luke, Grace and Bella)," Armstrong said.

"Yet we're up against her biological clock -- that pressure is what cracked it."

Armstrong said that he and Crow went to a counsellor to heal the growing divide, "but really there's no way to counsel that situation".

"Because if somebody wants a child, that's the greatest gift you can give to a woman, so who are you to stand there and say I don't want one. So we were at different points in our lives. We were not compatible on that issue," the Tour de France winner said.

While Armstrong is ready to be a father again with his current girlfriend Anna Hansen.
