Playback singer Asha Bhosle has approached the police against her tenant and yesteryear actor Sadhana, signalling a low in ties between two women who are voice and face of the 1966 hit Jhumka Gira Re.
Bhosle submitted a complaint at Santacruz police station about a fortnight ago, seeking action against Sadhana Nayyar for encroaching on her property in suburban Khar.
Police have not acted on complaint, terming the dispute a civil matter. Bhosle has accused Sadhana of wrongly claiming tenancy of the garden in her bungalow, Sangeeta.
Police said the actor stays on the ground floor of the bungalow.
According to the complaint, Sadhana has restricted access to the garden to Bhosle and her representatives/servants/agents. The singer has said the garden was never let out to Sadhana.
“My uninterrupted lawful possession of the said premises is now being sought to be disturbed…” Bhosle said.
Activist and politician Shaina NC, who is assisting Sadhana with the issue, said, “There is no question of trespass or encroachment. Sadhana has been a lawful tenant of the place for the last 35 years.”
