Awards are biased, Franco is no Crystal

At the just concluded Academy Awards 2011, the usual suspects walked away with the top honours of the evening. Expectedly, Twitter buzzed with web bashing of the winners (The King’s Speech) and the common con of discontent - host James Franco.

At the just concluded Academy Awards 2011, the usual suspects walked away with the top honours of the evening. Expectedly, Twitter buzzed with web bashing of the winners (The King’s Speech) and the common con of discontent - host James Franco.

Twitterverse ranted about Franco’s hosting (dis)ability. The actor’s ill-timing and performance with Anne Hathaway on a song from Grease, got the best of comedian and actor Stephen Fry.
Tweeting as Mrs Stephen Fry (the actor’s Twitter handle), he mocked, “Preposterous. Poor Stephen got a bad case of unhappy feet when James did his little jig.”

Veteran reviewer Roger Ebert wrote, “James Franco cuts off his hand in 127 hours. Ironic, given the one word for his performance as host.”

Ebert added, “The Oscarcast was dull, slow, witless, and hosted by the ill-matched duo. She might have made a delightful foil for another partner (Hugh Jackman), but Franco had a deer-in-the-headlights manner and read his lines robotically.” Comedian Bill Maher echoed, “James Franco looks like he is modelling.”
