With no big film due to release for the next two weeks, Bollywood is making the most of this free time. While newly-wed couple Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur will attend parties, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia plan to visit the Golden Temple at Amritsar.
Vidya-Siddharth: No, this isn’t their reception
For a few days, reports have been insisting that Bollywood’s newly-married couple, Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur, will host a reception for their family and friends on January 4. But now, we’re told, that the duo has no such plans.
A source says, "Vidya and Siddharth are not hosting any reception. It is Ronnie Screwvala and his wife Zarina who are having a get together of sorts to congratulate and welcome the newlyweds. The couple will attend the party, but they will, by no means, be hosting it." The source further reveals that the guest list too has been fixed by Ronnie and Zarina. "They have invited their friends from the industry. Since Siddharth and Ronnie have been working together for so long, the two couples are close to each other, which is why they will definitely make an appearance."
Arjun, Mehr: Prayers over partying
Even though Arjun Rampal and Shah Rukh Khan are known to be close friends, the former will miss the actor’s annual New Year party at his Dubai manion this time. SRK, who has been hosting this party for years, has planned a similar bash to ring in 2013. But Arjun has other plans in mind.
A source tells us, “He is heading to the Golden Temple in Amritsar for New Year’s Eve. He has been meaning to go there for a while. Now that he has got the time, he is not changing the plan. In any case, he will be very busy in 2013 as the year will begin with the promotions of his next film, Inkaar, which releases on January 18. Then he has to start shooting for his other films too.”
When contacted, Arjun confirmed the news, saying, “You don’t always get a chance to pray at the Golden Temple on New Year’s Eve. A friend managed to get us a booking there this year, so Mehr (Jesia, wife) and I will be going there.”
Akshay-Twinkle: Yacht birthday party
It’s been a good year for Akshay Kumar with back-to-back hit releases like Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, OMG: Oh My God! and Khiladi 786. And now, the actor is sending off 2012 with a private bash he is organising for his wife, Twinkle’s birthday today, on a yacht. While reports suggested that Akshay was to celebrate Twinkle’s birthday in Goa, we have been informed that the couple will go sailing around the city’s coast itself. "The yacht belongs to one of Akshay’s friends. It is going to be a special gathering for them as this is the first time they are celebrating together after the birth of their daughter, Nitara," says an insider close to the family. It was believed that since Rajesh Khanna had passed away earlier this year, the actor and his wife would not be celebrating any occasion. But Akshay clears the air when asked, saying, "My father-in-law was a person who believed in the celebration of life. So yes, we are celebrating his and my wife’s birthday today."
