The 35-year-old actress refuses to sign up to any of the popular websites used by famous fans including Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria Parker because she prefers keeping in touch with her pals by telephone, Marie Claire magazine reported.

Barrymore admits she’s also scared by the amount of personal information stored on the sites and is sure the tell-all culture will eventually kill the mystery of romance.

“The fact that I am begging for a phone call is pathetic in this age of technology. Plans are made by text — I can’t stand it,” Barrymore said. “I just don’t like this compulsive, instantaneous, over-information, lack-of-privacy, weirdo aspect of the world,” the actress opined.

“If you meet someone, they already know everything,” she added.

“What about showing up on the date and saying, ‘What do you do for a living? Who are your friends?’ Yes, you can avoid maybe a serial killer, but who knows? I am a romantic and it scares me,” Barrymore said.
