Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder." So they say. Sometimes though it’s quite hard to view beautiful people unfavourably. Is it then, that more often than not, people gifted in the "looks" department have more opportunities than their not so good-looking counterparts? What I’m trying to ask is, is it possible that people who are more attractive and blessed with certain above average looks, get by easier in life?

I’ve belonged to the world of glamour for over 16 years now, and I’ve to admit that coupled with a lot of other things, it primarily has been my looks that have brought me this far. The prerequisite for a chance in the world of high fashion, big bucks, a million frequent flier miles, most importantly is good looks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not discounting the fact that you have to work extremely hard and be smart enough to sustain in an industry that has a quicker turn around than the revolving doors at the Taj hotel, but most often than not, the ticket through that door is a pretty face. This will always be debated.

A million examples will be cited to explain where women who are not just all looks have gone on to rule nations and head multi-million dollar enterprises, and contributed in a big way to the world. I agree with that, but tell me, would Princess Diana, really have been the People’s Princess if she was an ordinary looking woman from the British heartland?
