When she was nine, she swept hearts by playing the role of the young Michelle in Black. Now, 14-year-old Ayesha Kapur is all set to make an impact in her next film, Sikandar, where she plays the part of a school girl.

The “party hopping fiction writer” says that she chose the script because it gave her a chance to see Kashmir. “I wanted to go to Kashmir because I had read so much about it that it intrigued me.” However, she was shocked by some of the things she saw there. “I saw carefree kids playing near men holding guns... I was really shocked. In fact, my role is that of a girl who is walking home from school with Parzan (her co-star) and spots a gun. This changes their perspective.”

Unlike other actors, Ayesha doesn’t like fan attention much. She says that beyond a point, it gets to her. “In Kashmir, many people recognised me as the girl from Black and I wasn’t very comfortable because I like to remain an actress only till I am on the sets. It is not a job, it’s my passion,” she says.

Although she wants to continue working in Bollywood, she doesn’t watch too many Bollywood movies and says that she has met Amitabh Bachchan only once since Black. “I met Amitabh in Aurangabad at the inauguration of a school. Since then, I haven’t met him. I haven’t met Rani, either. I call Parzan when I go to Bombay,” she says. She adds that she is waiting to share screen space with Konkona Sen Sharma after seeing her in Mr and Mrs Iyer.
