Pakistani cop Chaudhary Aslam's wife Naureen Aslam praised Sanjay Dutt's performance but criticised the depth in his role in Dhurandhar.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt portrayed Pakistani cop Chaudhry Aslam in Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, and his performance has clearly struck a chord with audiences. Now, even Chaudhry Aslam’s wife, Naureen Aslam, has praised his portrayal, revealing that in one particular scene, she felt as though she was watching Chaudhry Aslam himself on screen.

Sanjay Dutt essays the role of late Karachi SP Chaudhary Aslam Khan in Dhurandhar.

In a podcast with AajTak Radio, Naureen said that Sanjay Dutt was perfect for the role of her husband and, while praising his performance, added, “When he stands near the car and raises his eyes, for a moment it felt like Aslam himself." She further spoke about how her husband used to say that a film would be made about his life after his death.

Naureen also expressed that she felt the film did not do full justice to his character or the depth of his role. She added, "If they were making a film, they could have at least called me, the police, or journalists to understand both his positive and negative sides. He fulfilled tasks that the rest of the police never could."

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar also stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rehman Dakait and others in key roles. The film follows the story of an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal syndicates and Pakistani politics while avenging the 26/11 attacks and confronting larger threats. The film struck a chord with audiences and emerged as a blockbuster, collecting over ₹1,300 crore worldwide.

The second part of the film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, was released in theatres on March 19. The film lived up to the hype and crossed the lifetime collection of the first part in just its first week. It continues to enjoy a dream run at the box office and has so far collected over ₹900 crore at the domestic box office and over ₹1,400 crore worldwide. The film continues the story of Hamza rising through Lyari’s political structure and becoming the kingpin while completing his undercover mission. It also explores the origin story of Ranveer’s character, offering a glimpse into the reasons why he became a spy.
