The actor, who has made a career out of playing character roles like 'Dr Asthana' and 'Viru Sahastrabuddhi' in films like Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots, plays a lead role for the first time in the movie.

"It is nice to play different kind of characters but I have not played such a simple character. To make exciting to watch was a great challenge. I am happy to play the role of 'Abba'. It is one of my most favourite roles," Boman told PTI.

Well Done Abba tells the story of Armaan Ali, a taxi driver in Mumbai, who takes a leave for a month to find a husband for his daughter (Minnisha), living in a small locality close to Hyderabad.

"As Armaan returns late to Mumbai his employer wants to sack him. But Armaan has a story to tell that is humorous and hilarious," Boman said.

"The film shows how development projects that government initiates get hijacked by corruption. The movie is not a political game it is about the basic working... Of how the system functions. We are not talking about how one government toppled another," he said.
