Nonsense!” That’s journalist and host of CNN show Quest on Business, Richard Quest’s reaction when asked if business reporting is indeed as boring as it is perceived. “People-to-people interaction is what makes business interesting. Those who say so, have no idea of interesting reporting,” he retorts.

An authority on economics and aviation, Quest is known for his colourful ties and spontaniety on the small screen. “That’s my way of adding colour to things,” he says. While in Delhi recently, Quest harped on how Asia was an interesting place to be in at this crucial juncture in world economic history. “It’s turnaround time. India has almost come out of recession and growing economies are the ones to watchout for right now.”

The man himself has a special interest in India. “I love Indian food. Only the litter everywhere is a little put off,” he says. But Quest has been making news for things beyond business. In 2008, he spent six months in a rehab after being arrested in New York’s Central Park for possession of substance and a sex toy. “It was a deeply regrettable incident that I got through. But I can’t pull the clock back,” he signs off.
