According to a custom of Christmas cheer, any two people who meet under a hanging of mistletoe are obliged to kiss.

Thousand people were asked who they would like to kiss under the Christmas foliage and Cole won with a majority of 40 percent.

The X-Factor judge beat off competition from style rival Dannii Minogue who only pulled in two per cent of the votes.

Fellow Brit Robert Pattinson emerged the most desirable man with 285 votes while Bond star Daniel Craig and Jude Law were hot on his heels in second and third place.
