Hollywood actress Jennifer Connelly and her husband Paul Bettany have revealed they go on camping holidays to avoid the paparazzi.
The Hollywood couple, who wed in 2003, enjoy heading out on vacation to the countryside with their children, six-year-old Stellan, and 11-year-old Kai, from Connelly's previous relationship, despite the harsh living conditions to take a break and evade the media, reports hollywood.com.
"Three weeks ago me and my missus and the kids were covered in mud for three days, because we got rained on from a great height when we were camping in the White Mountains (in New Hampshire)... It's like proper camping out in the wild with bear canisters - you have to go and put your food 800 yards away in case the bears smell it," said Bettany.
"There's no comfort, no blow-up beds or anything - you're just in a tent and you fire up a little Primus (camping stove) to cook your food, and again you have to do that a long way from the tent in case the bear smells the food... We go as often as we can."
"It's entirely normal, the most unglamourous thing you can do. Everybody stinks, and you're cold and you're wet and yet you see things you'd never see from a car or a hotel room. You walk every day and you're away from everything. Some people in this business go, 'I can't go anywhere without the paparazzi', but if you really want to you can find a way to go and be private," he added.
