Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has come to the defence of his son Rahul, 29, who allegedly misfired a bullet while fiddling with a licensed gun that belonged to his friend and actor Mallika Sherawat’s brother, Vikram Lamba. The incident, which took place in Mumbai on Sunday, injured a student of the neighbouring Central Institute of Fisheries Education.

“Rahul just happened to be a witness to this incident. He did not fire the gun. It was an accident and could’ve happened to anyone. It was totally unintentional,” says daddy Bhatt. Last year too, Rahul ran into trouble for his association with David Coleman Headley, an accused in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
