The controversy triggered off by media invites to the mahurat of her just-launched movie, Shootout At Wadala, has taken Ekta Kapoor by surprise. Despite a disclaimer asserting that it was “purely for promotional purpose”, the Versova police station registered a case of forgery and cheating against producers Sanjay Gupta and Balaji for misusing the name of the Mumbai Police Commissioner by using the rubber stamp of police.

“The matter is subjudice so I can’t say much. I have the utmost respect for the judiciary and police force of Maharashtra. We didn’t mean any harm. We were expecting controversy during the release since the film deals with the first registered police encounter but I didn’t expect one at the beginning.”
