Passion Patel. That’s the dude who’s removed confusion from my life. And factored in the other ‘c’ – Carl Clarity. It’s amazing, how being a little away from earth can clear your mind and help you see the truth hiding behind those planetary clouds. So this week Confuscious is on a sabbatical, soaring with Patel and Carl.
When I decided to go flying, I was just indulging in a childhood dream. But I ended up learning a lot more. Besides the fact that it required me to study more than I have studied in all my schooling years, it gave me an insight into the world of passion. Let me explain. My trainer was a guy who had given up his cushy job in a bank to pursue what he loved most — flying. He had flown close to thousand hours and yet he could not wait to get back into that plane. He said, “You know, I would do this even if I got no money out of it”.
You’re lucky if your passion can make you millions but equally lucky if you just have a passion. Your passion would be something you would indulge in, if time was not restrictive, money not the issue and nothing to stop you from doing what your heart wants.

{{/usCountry}}Lest you think passion is only for prodigies, let me introduce you to David Baldair. David was a lawyer, married with two kids. His passion, though, was to be a writer. Every night between 10 pm and 2 am he worked on his passion. He did this for ten years and didn’t make any money. Finally on a friend’s insistence he showed his stuff around. And in 1996, his book, Absolute Power, became a bestseller and was made into a movie with Clint Eastwood. He went on to write many more bestsellers and made millions.
Have you dreamt of doing something that would completely absorb you? Something that would make hours seem like minutes? Something that you would do only for the love of it? Well, if that something has been vrooming in your head and you get excited at the mere thought of it — that is your passion. It could be anything from cooking to ant farming. You don’t have to give up your job or stop your life, just take a little time out from watching television, gossiping, surfing the net and discover where your heart lies. I’m out to discover mine, I hope you find yours.
Side note: Imran, my friend, I would stand by you in most situations, ‘most’ being the key word. But when the enemy is a rare combination of super hot, talented and like you put it “devious”, I would blissfully surrender.
