Pop singer Miley Cyrus has suddenly become the voice of curvy girls world over. The 18-year-old Hannah Montana star, who recently came under harsh online dissing due to her fuller figure, has started a crusade against weight-watchers. “By calling girls like me fat, this is what you’re doing to other people,” she tweeted on Saturday, alongside a photo of an anonymous, severely anorexic girl.
“I don't wanna be shaped like a girl. I LOVE being shaped like a WOMAN and trust me ladies, your man won’t mind either,” she added. Miley then tweeted a photo of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, and wrote, “Proof that you can be adored by thousands of men, even when your thighs touch.” Fellow Disney star Demi Lovato, 19, added her voice to Miley’s crusade with a loud “Amen” and retweeted Monroe’s photo to her own 4.9 million followers.
Health experts in India are applauding Cyrus’s stand. “I’m grateful to Miley that’s she’s slammed the anorexic look. An alarming number of teenaged girls think that the anorexic look is actually the right figure. People are confused between being fit and looking skinny. Miley’s chubby cheeks, glowing skin and beautiful hair prove that she's fit and healthy," says Dr Simran Saini, a nutritionist at Fortis Hospital.
Delhi based Psychiatrist Dr Avdesh Sharma, says "There's an alarming increase in the number of teens coming with weight related issues. Since Miley is a role model, this should send the right message.”
