An upcoming garage sale will stock only items contributed by celebrities

Garage sales have become a regular fixture on the city’s culture calendar, but how about one that’s selling only clothes, accessories and home items donated by celebrities? This Sunday (October 6), head to the Jean Claude Biguine Salon, Bandra to buy wares that belong to Pallavi Sharda, Amrita Puri, Soha Ali Khan and a host of other popular faces.

“I realised that I knew enough people whose stuff I could sell. The idea was to get people who have lots to give it to those who don’t,” says organiser Insia Lacewalla, who has hosted bake sales at the same venue in the past. “The proceeds will be donated to the NGO, Aatma. I’ve always wanted to do charity, but for someone who is working on her own, it isn’t easy to contribute too much.”

The initial plan was to get 10 celebrities on board, but once they started giving stuff and telling their friends about it, others wanted to participate too. “Juhi Pande has sent the most stuff. She’s given six bags. Amrita also sent two cartons,” says Lacewalla, who has kept the prices of the items low — between `50-`500.
