Egyptian names daughter 'Facebook'

An Egyptian man has named his baby daughter ‘Facebook’ to commemorate the role the social networking site played in organising protests in Tahrir Square and other cities throughout the country.

An Egyptian man has named his baby daughter ‘Facebook’ to commemorate the role the social networking site played in revolution.



According to the newspaper Al-Ahram, Jamal Ibrahim was so happy with the role played by the site in organising protests in Tahrir Square and other cities throughout Egypt that he named his baby after the website.

The girl's full name is Facebook Jamal Ibrahim and her family and their friends and neighbrous are reported to have gathered around the newborn, expressing their continued support for the revolution they say started on Facebook, reports the Daily Mail.



Following President Hosni Mubarak's resignation graffiti was daubed across the capital city, Cairo, saying "Thank you Facebook."

“I'd hate for little Facebook to have to share a classroom with a little AOL, or worse a little Yahoo!”
