Friends, music and great weather = bliss

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the lovely letters! I’m so appreciative of you taking the time to give me feedback, and love reading your thoughts and comments. Good luck to Pooja, I hope your boards went well. I cracked up reading that you thought I sounded like your evil twin. Not too evil, I hope! Vidya, I read your e-mail and will do my best to incorporate your suggestions at future shows.

It is hard in Delhi, because people generally want passes, not paid tickets, though thankfully that has been changing in recent years. Then, of course, there are VIPs who expect reserved seats, and that creates a need for different levels of invites.

That can be frustrating for a concert-goer, and I appreciate your feedback. And finally, thanks to all of you who said you enjoyed my concert two weekends ago. It was really very special for me to share that music with Delhi.

Currently, I’m trying to make the most of my last few days in Delhi, because I soon go back to the US to begin touring again. It’s always a bittersweet feeling because I live there, too, so half of me is really sad to be leaving here, and part of me is excited to get back to my home and friends and life there! I’ll be home in California for two weeks before the tour begins, so that gives me time to settle back in and do press in advance of the tour. It has been like that my whole life, because I have always lived in two countries. I tend to be in India through the winter and migrate like a bird with the weather.

I’m not always this lucky: sometimes the opposite is true. Last February, I was away from Delhi every single time friends would come here to perform, or I’d go to their cities when they were touring elsewhere. So I really feel lucky whenever things work out and I get time with people I care about. There’s nothing more important, is there?
