Any memorable interactions with your fans?
I once met a girl who asked to touch me, so I shook her hand. Later, I heard her telling her friends she was never going to wash it. That was weird.
What’s the best and worst part of your job?
The best is the work you put in to etch out a character. The hardest I have worked is for RK (his character in Madhubala). I had to have the attitude of a superstar. I also lost 11 kgs for the show. The worst part was shooting day and night several times for Pyaar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani (PKYEK).
A show which surprised you in terms of content or success?
I like Vampire Diaries. I hardly watch Indian shows, but I’m glad about the success of Balika Vadhu. For a show to work for four years is a big deal.
Your biggest achievement?
My latest achievement is Madhubala. You can’t be a one-show wonder. I have worked hard on all the characters I have played.
Your worst scene?
I had to lie on a slab of ice for a shot in PKYEK. There were crabs crawling all around. If I’d moved, they’d have bitten me.

Which actor is currently hot on TV?
Ram Kapoor, who else? He is a buddy and has been a mentor since the beginning. He’s a lovely human being.
What topics do you want to see on TV?
I would love to see another vampire show on Indian TV.
