Actor Tusshar Kapoor talks about his love for food.

My diet: I am a vegetarian as well as a non-vegetarian. I can live without non-vegetarian food for as long as I want.

My favourites in vegetarian food:
I love to have spinach, bhindi, tinda, paneer etc. I just don’t like karelas.

My favourite non vegetarian dish:
Tandoori chicken.

My dinner:
Salad and a soup with some steamed fish.

My favourite desserts:
My dad says sweets are poison but I have a major sweet tooth. I prefer Indian sweets to Western. I relish firni, gulab jamuns, ladoos, rabdi, kaju katris, badam ka halwa, sooji ka halwa. In Western desserts I like cheesecake and tiramisu. When in Chicago, I must visit the cheese factory which has hundreds of varieties of cheesecake.

My fridge is incomplete without: Fruits, fat-free cheese, brown bread and chocolates.

A childhood memory associated with food: As children, we would spend a lot of time in Hyderabad because dad (film star Jeetendra) shot a lot of films there and we even had a house. In the nights, dad would cook excellent rum chicken for his family, and friends like Rakesh Uncle. Sometimes, he put extra rum but by and large he made really good rum chicken.

Eating abroad: I remember a restaurant in Michigan, where you are given the required ingredients — there are 10 kinds each of spices, lettuce and meats. You select what you want in a bowl and head for a table laden with different kinds of spices, dips and sauces. Next, you take your dish to a table where there are 10 people to cook it. They cook it to your taste in two minutes.
My idea of a romantic meal: I would like a place which has subdued light, classy ambiance and Italian food.
