The girls at Miranda House College in Delhi University(DU) were in for a treat on Wednesday when critically-acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali visited the college, where he happily posed for pictures and signed autographs as well.
Ali, who is a former DU student, was invited to Miranda House to interact with the students, after the college held a week long retrospective of his films. The interactive session turned out to be quite interesting, as Ali gave witty replies to all the questions that were put forward to him.
For Ali, being in the college was like a dream come true. “After so many years of trying to get in through the back gate of Miranda House College, I have finally succeeded in entering it, and that too through the front gate,” he said.
“Everyday, me and my friends would try to sneak in through the back gate. We had a special relationship with the guard — we bribed him with beedis,” added Ali, remembering his college days at DU.So, if he was that fascinated with the college and the girls there, why did he choose actor Nargis Fakhri for Rockstar, and not a girl from Miranda? “At that time, I didn’t come to Miranda, otherwise I would have definitely chosen a girl from here,” he quipped.
During his days at DU, did he ever date a “Mirandian”? “God knows that I have tried so hard, but I guess it was just not my luck to get a date from Miranda,” replied the director. Ali, who was happy with all the attention he was getting from the girls at the college, added, “I feel like I am back in college. I wish I had received such attention from girls back then!”
