"Several looks were discussed, but the maximum number of votes went to Kareena's look in Chameli, for which she won many awards. Also, as it's an international forum, they wanted her in Indian wear. Chameli was a turning point in her career and she was appreciated by both critics as well as fans. It was after her performance in Chameli that the actress was appreciated as a talented star," a source revealed to a national daily.

Producer Pritish Nandy was overjoyed at the news. He declared on Twitter, "Guess I am vindicated. Madame Tussaud has chosen Kareena as Chameli for their museum... Yehi hai right choice baby."

He appreciated Kareena's look for the film, which was researched by producer Rangita Nandy and designed by Manish Malhotra.

"Chameli was Kareena's best look, best role, best performance. She will always be remembered by it," tweeted Pritish.

The actor will fly down in October to unveil her statue at the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in London.

Chameli, released in 2003, was one of Kareena's most successful roles, where she won critical acclaim. She played the character of a local prostitute named Chameli.
