What happens when the most popular Twitter personality (with a following of 22 plus million followers) tweets a politically incorrect statement on her wall. Lady Gaga's recent post has created quite a furore online.
The tweet said, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay"
The tweet came more as a surprise to most considering the pop singer had earlier come out in the open about her struggle with the eating disorder bulimia. During an appearance at a young women's conference in Los Angeles in February, the singer admitted that she was bulimic in high school, and said that she was obsessed with being a "skinny little ballerina."
What followed was a barrage of retorts, some shocked at and some defending the tweet.
In response to the tweet, the National Eating Disorder Association staff Twitter account wrote: "Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?" reported Huffington Post.
While some of the Twitterati was upset and even called the tweet 'disgusting', most of Gaga's fans defended the tweet saying it was just a joke.

Other singers like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have come out in the past and spoken against eating disorders, calling it a a serious issue.
