Munni has just stolen the limelight back from Sheila, so what if it’s for the wrong reasons! Item queen Malaika Arora Khan, along with actors Bobby Deol and Aditya Panscholi, was left stumped after the police raided a Jaipur hotel were the three were reportedly dancing at a wedding.
Hotel Clarks Amer was raided on Monday night, after locals complained of blaring music beyond the stipulated 10pm deadline. “We raided the hotel and seized the music equipment. An FIR was registered against the hotel management and ‘unidentified’ persons who were performing there,” confirms Suryaveer Singh, SHO of the area. He adds that action against the stars who were performing will be taken once the hotel authorities give them the details.
All three actors deny the incident. “I finished my work and left the venue before 10pm. I have no idea what transpired after that,” says Malaika. While Panscholi says “we were just guests”, Deol says he left early and “had no clue what happened”. “I was just a guest at the wedding. Malaika’s performance was also over. They were playing music just for fun. The police came and stopped the music,” adds Panscholi.
With the New year party season set to begin, actors who perform regularly at parties say targetting them is wrong, as following rules is the organiser’s responsibility. "The organisers should ensure that there is no loud music after 10, because there are bound to be complaints," says actor Udita Goswami. Singer Sophie Choudry says, "At private parties in Delhi, this happens a lot — that police comes and raids the premises." They say that a detailed contract with clearly-outlined conditions, and choosing events with care, helps. "I sign a foolproof contract. Beyond that, it is not our responsibility. It’s important to not perform at places that don’t have the right reputation," says actor Eesha Koppikhar.
