Pop star Mariah Carey has a fan in the new president of the United States, Barack Obama.

Obama's wife Michelle played Carey's 1993 hit "Hero" before the election results were announced. A friend of Carey said: "She was blown away when she heard. She is so honoured to have played her part in such an occasion," reports mirror.co.uk.

Carey also received a warm reception in London to promote her new album and she has something of a sensation among the contestants on "X Factor". Carey will sing on the show and rivals will get to cover one of her songs.
