Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy must probably rub their hands with glee whenever they get a Farhan Akhtar project.. because that’s when they really let their hair down (think Dil Chahta Hai, Don, Rock On!!).
S-E-L come out of their comfort zone of lilting romantic melodies and wallop out unusual tracks here. Check out Shankar Mahadevan’s masterful jugalbandi with a Rajasthani ensemble in Baawre or the dark, fast-paced Sapnon se bhare naina, which are reason enough to buy the soundtrack.
Ironically, the one song that’s a bit predictable is the romantic duet Pyaar ki daastaan. The rest of the four wonderfully different songs will not disappoint you though.. here’s the first delightful buy, then, of 2009.
