She is back from the US after completing a course in business development from Harvard Business School. And, as always, the TV czarina plans to mark her birthday by making a trip to the Tirupati temple.

"I have so much work to deal with. There are two TV shows to be launched besides the promotions of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again," says Ekta, even as she talks about her birthday memories.

What’s the most special gift you’ve ever got on your birthday?

It has to be a diamond bracelet that my mother (Shobha Kapoor) gave me. The present is special not because of the diamonds, but because she always gives me something special on my birthday. I still have the bracelet that I received two-three years ago.

Would you call yourself a big-birthday-party girl?

I don’t think so. I used to be like that when I was involved with TV. But, I think over the last few years, I have matured and now it’s all about spending intimate moments with my near and dear ones on the special day.

Any special plans this year?

Nothing. I am travelling to Tirupati today (June 7). Tonight, I will have dinner with my family. And a day later, I might call 10 close friends over for dinner at home. No flashy parties or starry dos for me.

Any special birthday celebrations that you still remember?

We used to have these big Balaji parties, which would start a month in advance. So my birthday celebrations would kick off on May 7. Everyone used to be invited for the bash. But then I realised there’s no point hanging out with people whom I don’t hang out with during the rest of the year.

What do birthdays mean to you?

They make me realise that I am a year older (laughs). Also, I ponder over what I achieved. Last year, I went to Harvard, launched multiple TV shows and produced three films. It was fruitful.
